If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.

Age 19+

If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. Student Finance

If you are aged 19 or over and not eligible to get your course free, you could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your fees. If the amount of Advanced Learner Loan available to you is less than the Advanced Learner Loan Fee for your course, you would need to pay the difference. This travel and tourism course will allow you to explore opportunities in the sector and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to progress to a degree, higher apprenticeship or employment.

If you want to work in the constantly evolving travel and tourism sector, this course will provide you with the the practical skills and knowledge needed to explore career paths in the industry.

You will benefit from guest speakers and work placements to help you gain an insight into the exciting careers available.

Entry Criteria

You will hold four GCSEs at grades 4 (C), ideally this will include English and maths, or a Level 2 Travel and Tourism qualification.


You will be required to full uniform in all travel and tourism sessions.


Additional Costs

You will be asked to contribute £30 at the start of the year for trips and visits.

Study Aims

This travel and tourism course is designed to give you the skills to work in the sector. The qualification will:

  • Focus on the study of the travel and tourism sectors in a number of occupational areas
  • Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge, skills and understanding
  • Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and work-related skills

The objectives of these qualifications are to:

  • Provide you with an in-depth understanding of the principles of the travel and tourism industry and allow you to explore the various avenues of work within this industry
  • Allow you to gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study
  • Understand and develop the skills necessary to work within the travel and tourism industry.

In addition to qualified and experienced teaching staff, who will guide and prepare you for assessments, you will also have access to a Personal Learning Coach.

As part of the programme, you will be required to complete a two week work placement within the travel industry. This will be to gain skills and experience within the environment you will be training to work within.
